Food Festivals & Baseball Games

Happy Monday everyone!

Totally went MIA yesterday but it was a sunny, 80 degree day here in Richmond and we were busy soaking up the rays, do hope you understand πŸ˜€

We started off our day with a visit to the local Lebanese Festival just down the street from our house.

In true food blogger fashion, I had of course checked out the menu before we arrived so had an idea of what I was lookin’ for πŸ˜‰

What do we have here?

  1. Bubbaghanooge – Β baked eggplants flavored with sesame oil, lemon juice, garlic and Middle East spices
  2. Tabouli – parsley, cracked wheat, onion, tomatoes, oil and lemon juice
  3. Yogurt & Cucumber cold salad – diced cucumbers, mashed garlic, salt and green mint mixed with yogurt

All served up with a generous helping of pita bread!

The Man decided to try out the chicken shawirma and to also make a super disturbing eating face for the camera haha πŸ˜›

With a Sprite to wash it all down.Β  But happy to report that the soda drinkage is steadily improving and fyi, I quit drinking them a few months back altogether!

We couldn’t leave without grabbing some dessert to-go either, obviously πŸ˜€

Baklava and coconut macaroons — ummmm yes please.

Everything was fabulous and I think the party was just getting started as we were leaving, people were pouring in as it approached the lunch hour and it was gettin’ packed!

But alas, we had places to be and people to see and ya know, however that saying goes πŸ˜‰

It was our first trip downtown to The Diamond ever since they replaced our beloved AAA Richmond Braves with the double A Flying Squirrels… however this team has been making it’s mark around town and folks are really flocking to see these games!

Oh yes, that would be the crazy mascot “Nutzy” the flying squirrel hahaha, this squirrel was outta control!

As the day went on and the sun got stronger, we got h-o-tttttt!Β  The Man quenched his thirst with 3 a humungo cup o’ beer.Β  (I was DD, don’t worry πŸ˜‰ )

Even though we wore our sunscreen, I swear we got a lil’ suntan… check out these before and afters?

And no, for the record, I’m not naked haha – just wearing a strapless shirt to avoid weird tan lines and the such πŸ˜›

Too bad the Squirrels didn’t pull through tonight and lost the game, which was against a rival team competing for the 1st place slot with the team.Β  Ah well.

But fear not, this will definitely not be our last game!Β  We had a blast especially since we went with a big group of friends, which is always a fun time πŸ™‚

And remember everyone, if you want to check out Galaxy Granola for yourself don’t forget that I’m offering a special discount in my OpenSky shop on the product!

Well off to work I go, we have rain on the forecast for the next 7 days pretty much and it’s downpouring as we speak right now too… joy.

Anywho, enjoy your day!

  1. owww the food at the festival looks incredible- some of my FAVORITES! We have a local minor league team and we have not been to a game yet- we have to go! They have such great deals on tickets. Hope the rest of your week treats you well. Rain is ok- as long as it takes place during the week in my opinion. Hopefully it will clear up by next weekend πŸ˜‰

  2. I can’t believe I missed the giveaway announcement while skimming through posts yesterday- thanks so much for letting me know! I love the “naked” strapless look…so funny πŸ™‚ Looks like you had a fun Sunday, hope today is just as good!
